Bangalore, (The Garden City of India) :
The founder of Bangalore city Kempegowda I founded the new Bangalore in 1537, and christened it as Bangalore. The main attractions are the gardens and temples. Bangalore is also the Software capital of India, hence known as the Silicon Valley of India.
Kabini, (Nagarhole National Park) :
Kabini, a wildlife destination located on the bank of Kabini River is home to the Rajiv Gandhi National Park, Nagarhole (Kabini). The park was once the hunting retreat of the Mysore Maharajas. The wild lives seen in Nagarhole Park are elephant, gaur, sambar, chital, wild boar and the tiger, and leopard. The Nagarhole Park is also a home to a wide variety of birds.
Bandipur, (Bandipur National Park) :
Bandipur is about 80km south of Mysore located on the Mysore-Ooty Road. The Bandipur Reserve is home to lots of wildlife. The location is enthralling as it is set against the picturesque backdrop of the enchanting Nilgiri. It was once the hunting lodge of the Mysore Maharajas. This is one of the best sanctuaries for wildlife photograph and jungle safari.
Mysore, (The city of palace) :
Known for its palaces and royal buildings, Mysore visit is sure to be memorable; one explores here palaces built by the Wodeyar Kings. Once the state capital Mysore has a rich tradition of music and dance, art, literature and handicrafts. Mysore is also famous for its sandalwood and silks.
- Srirangapatna : It is a heritage destination known for the island fortress of the legendary warrior king Tipu Sultan. The fortress houses Tipu's mosque with its twin minarets, the Wellesley Bridge and the dungeons where Tipu’s soldiers imprisoned the British officers.
Hassan, (Home to three Heritage attractions) :
- Belur : Located in Hassan district about 38 kms from the city centre Belur is a heritage site famous for its Hoysala Temple Complex. The main attraction is the Chennakesava Temple which was built by Hoysala Vishnuvardhana, to celebrate his victory over the Cholas. The intricate sculptures of the temple are an example of fine craftsmanship of the Hoysala architecture.
- Halebid : Halebid, once the capital of the Hoysala kingdom is 27 kms away from Hassan. It houses one of the finest Hoysaleswara Temple known for its sculptural architecture. The motifs of the walls are Hindu deities, sages, stylized animals, birds and friezes depicting the life of the Hoysala Kings.
- Shravanabelagola : Shravanabelagola is a Jain pilgrimage centre which houses the Asia's largest monolithic statue of Lord Gomateswara. It towers 58 ft standing atop the picturesque Vindhyagiri Hill.
Hampi, (World Heritage Site, Hospet) :
A night view of Hampi village seems surrealistic. It is a World Heritage Center known for its ruined stone architecture of the Vijayanagar kingdom. The largest empire in the post-Mughal India, Vijayanagar sprawled over the three states-Karnataka, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh. The invasion by the raiding Mughals left behind some ruins of Vijayanagar Empire. The ruins of Vijayanagar capital Hampi covers an area of 26 sq kms and echoes the grandeur, splendor of the Vijayanagar Empire.
Badami, (A World Heritage Site) :
Badami is known for its sculptures located at the mouth of a rift between two rocky hills. The main attraction which wonders the travelers is the 18 armed Nataraja striking 81 dance poses.
